Ever since shortly after the turn of the century, there have been regular reports of the poor conditions of foreign workers in this country. Up to 30,000 foreign nationals are currently employed in the Icelandic labour market, and there have never been more.

In the first part of the episode, we talk about Steve Edmundson, who manages a single pension fund in Nevada that is bigger than all the Icelandic pension funds combined. In the second part, we look at where we stand 10 years after the crash and consider what we still don't know today.

We take a look at the status of protected areas in Iceland. Of the approximately fifty areas that Alþingi has agreed to protect over the last fifteen years, only a few have made it into that category. We then visit the city of Narva in Estonia, which is located on the border between Russia and Estonia. Guðrún Björt Yngvadóttir has been in the Lions movement for 25 years. She lives in Garðabær and worked for a long time in a laboratory as a biochemist and then at the University of Iceland's Education. She prefers not to reveal her age. Says he turned 39 and decided not to celebrate any more birthdays, even though many years have passed since then. In recent years, she started to be more active in the international work of the Lions movement, and now it has really paid off. She has become the highest office of the movement. With that, she is in charge of an organization of 1.4 million people in over 200 countries.

A decade after small loan companies established themselves in Iceland, there is still a war with them. Now the ownership is foreign, but the loans do not comply with Icelandic law. Then there are the migratory birds that flock to the country and with them a rather unsightly stowaway that many people are terrified of.
