Nika and Borut are living a new life, into which they have welcomed Sebastijan. Sebastijan’s father, lawyer Zajc, is at the end of his strength. Life turns upside down as this trio enters a mysterious medical‑pharmaceutical case. The story has a ten‑year shadow, beginning with the scandal of the late doctor Dušan Kalan, defended by lawyer Jože Zajc. Dušan left behind his growing daughter Živa, his broken wife Anica, and a letter meant to be delivered to his daughter on her twentieth birthday. That letter unleashes a whirlwind of medical‑pharmaceutical sins, pulling in everyone — lawyers, prosecutors, judges, police, media, and powerful figures behind the scenes.

Živa’s disappearance shakes Nika, who feels guilty as she was the last to speak with her. While Borut focuses on a court case, Nika involves her father Tomaž in the search, hoping his psychological insight can explain what is happening with Živa. Together with Sebastijan and Mir, they visit Živa’s mother Anica, who is anything but pleased by their arrival. Convinced that Živa vanished because of Nika, Anica rejects them. Meanwhile, Tomaž’s path in psychotherapy crosses with that of the mysterious “beekeeper” Božo.

While Nika and Sebastijan find a very confused Živa in a psychiatric hospital, a large foreign transfer appears in the account of the ZOZ law office. Nika and Tomaž visit Majda in prison, and when Nika mentions the search for Živa, Majda recalls that the investigation into her father Dušan Kalan’s suicide was suspiciously rushed. Tomaž also remembers Dušan Kalan from prison. Meanwhile, Borut’s research leads him deeper into shady dealings. He receives an indecent invitation to cross over to the other side, and suddenly he no longer knows who is with whom.

Borut resists the “beekeeper” Božo. He wants to return the transferred 100,000 euros, but journalists, led by the cunning media manipulator Peter, already launch a dirty media construct. Nika, unaware of Borut’s discoveries and indecent offer, wants to report everything to the police. Yet Borut suspects the beekeeper’s tentacles reach even into the police. Nika visits Anica to obtain her signature for reopening the case of Dušan Kalan. The dying Jože Zajc knows the most about him. Sebastijan grows increasingly restless when he realizes his father is being given more and more morphine. He is convinced they want to kill him. The trio begins to fall apart. Love and friendship are put to the test…

A month later, Borut is forced to cooperate within the machinery of Božo Kralj, Peter, and Sabrina. Meanwhile, the increasingly lonely and broken Nika succeeds in reopening the case of Dušan Kalan. Majda is granted conditional release from prison, and together with Tomaž, she begins a new shared path after many years. Yet because of the underground structures of the “beekeeper,” this romance may soon turn into a crime story. Božo finally locks Borut into his clandestine network by confronting him with a bundle of photographs showing him with Nika. Borut insists he has nothing to do with her, but Božo does not believe him. Outside Nika’s office, the tax inspector suddenly appears.

Borut angrily realizes that Božo has broken his word and gone after Nika. Božo shifts the blame onto Peter and places Peter’s fate in Borut’s hands. Nika is devastated by a newspaper article, convinced her life is over. She wants to withdraw from the game, but Majda persuades her to continue with the case. Nika decides to go on, only to face another surprise when she learns that the prosecutor on the case is her friend Špela. Meanwhile, Jože Zajc, whom Nika and Sebastijan have hidden away for treatment in a private Swiss clinic, is improving day by day. Yet on the last night before his discharge, a special “gift” from Božo awaits him in Switzerland — an euthanasia bag.

Majda and Tomaž’s love nest goes up in flames — not from passion, but as a warning. Nika desperately searches for Sebastijan and Živa, while in Switzerland Miro saves Zajc at the very last moment. Nika is alone and increasingly broken. She collapses under the weight of those around her and begins to fear that her investigation is both unproductive and dangerous. Miro insists they must continue and go all the way. Summoning her last strength, Nika presses on. The trial begins, but it quickly unravels when the key witness — a nurse who was to confess to the conspiracy from ten years ago — dies.

The trial continues. The second witness, journalist Daniela, is both protected and threatened by the same person. Inspector Verbič, one of Božo’s men, has fallen in love with her. Will their relationship be ruled by Eros or Tanatos? Majda, Tomaž, and Nika piece together the story of Božo Kralj, brother of Herman Dragonja — a close associate of Majda’s husband Edo. Meanwhile, Miro and Jože succeed in finding Sebastijan and Živa, who unravel the secret of the pharmaceutical fraud of the century. Lawyer Zajc joins Nika in tackling the case of Dušan Kalan, the first to expose pharmaceutical irregularities. Will little David finally manage to defeat the great Goliath?
