Nika, together with Boris Hafner, head of the specialized state prosecution, enters politics as a candidate for Minister of Justice in the upcoming elections. After the night when the team decides to run, Nika wakes up in an unknown part of Ljubljana with no memory of the previous night. An uncertain and fragmented path of reconstructing that night begins. Živa, now a journalism student, starts working as a freelance contributor at a media outlet. From Nika she receives exclusive information about Hafner’s announcement to enter politics — tied to the adoption of a law on the statute of limitations for economic crime.

In the hospital, Nika receives confirmation that she was raped. Fragmented memories emerging into her consciousness point to a taxi driver. Meanwhile, Živa improves her standing in the newsroom thanks to Nika’s exclusive information about Hafner’s entry into politics. Together with editor Pretnar, she conducts the first major interview with Hafner. Later that evening in the newsroom, an unwanted closeness occurs — not by Živa’s choice. Out of fear for her future, Živa does not dare to reject the editor.

Pretnar is accused in the media of sexual abuse and loses his job. Nika continues her investigation but finds herself at a dead end. She confronts Pero, who was the last person with her at the alleged crime scene, but he too is clearly not the right suspect. Just as Nika convinces herself that the worst scenario was only imagined, a new lead emerges that rekindles her suspicions. Hafner searches within his party for Pero’s spy, while Pretnar sues the newspaper for wrongful termination. Editor‑in‑chief Ema Mrak turns to Nika, asking her to represent them in court.

After returning from prison, Borut realizes the world is no longer the same — and neither is Nika. A deep conversation between them reveals intimate stories from both sides. During his visit, Borut also turns into something of a detective, piecing together facts and fragments that suggest something difficult has happened to Nika. Yet Nika denies it completely. The secret remains even during a family dinner, where the gathered family discusses current matters — including Živa and her difficult situation.

The court hearing begins, where Krivic argues for Pretnar’s innocence. Nika discovers who owns the mysterious blue vial. Hafner officially establishes his new party, but grows angry at Nika’s absence. Despite Hafner’s prohibition, Nika has taken on representing the newspaper against Pretnar. She struggles to gather witnesses, while Krivic skillfully twists the truth in court. Meanwhile, at Borut’s newly opened pro bono legal counseling office, a victim of a new sexual assault appears — an incident strikingly similar to the events Nika is investigating. There is a strong suspicion that both cases may involve the same attacker.

At court, the key witness — Živa — takes the stand. Through Ket, Borut tracks down Lexy, who apparently knows something about Nika’s fateful night. Nika submits her evidence from that night for DNA analysis. Her preoccupation with the trial at the expense of her client deepens the rift in her relationship with Hafner. Nika’s main goal is to defeat Krivic and Pretnar, a desire further fueled by her personal motive of revenge. Ket reveals that she was at the party where the attack occurred in a professional capacity. Since she cannot remember that night, she and Borut must find her colleague Lexy — but Lexy refuses to speak about the event. And it seems that Špela Perič is not entirely innocent in all of this either.

Nika tries to uncover the identity of her attacker. Pretnar returns to the newsroom, while Borut receives an important fragment of information from Lexy. After losing in court, Nika is expelled from Hafner’s party. Pretnar regains his position at the newspaper, and despite controlling Živa and editor‑in‑chief Ema, he remains in a high post. Yet Pretnar soon realizes his victory will not come without a price. After confronting Špela, Nika once again finds herself at a dead end. Determined, she descends into the depths of that fateful night — revisiting the crime scene.

Šmuc and Nika, in the house where they realize the rape took place, are surprised by the arrival of Zucchero and Gajić. For Nika, fragments of that fateful night finally form a complete picture. She no longer has any doubt — she knows who the perpetrator is, and now only asks herself why. The reasons are shocking. Živa is convinced her journalistic career is over before it even began. Yet Pretnar’s act, which Živa interprets between the lines of his farewell text, turns events in an unexpected direction.
