Scouring the Arctic seas for Namor the Submariner, the Avengers come across a partially frozen body floating in the Gulf Stream north of Newfoundland. The 'body' turns out to be Steve Rogers, the original Captain America, who has been frozen in suspended animation for close on twenty years. Following several adventures with extraterrestrial menaces wielding 'petrification beams' and similarly improbable devices, the Avengers invite Cap to join their crusade.
