Claire faces a clear conflict of interest. The law firm refuses to defend her friend Evra who was drugged during a party at the home of Public Prosecutor Gillain. Indignant, Claire announces that she is leaving the company and will defend her friend alone.

Elisabeth's husband has returned from Lebanon; Laurent and Paul have signed their civil partnership agreement.

A young manager is accused of having killed a colleague during a mountain climbing trip. He claims that he had no choice: they had slipped and found themselves hanging in mid-air. Yet certain witnesses describe a very different situation.

12 year-old Tom arrives in the law company's offices in search of a lawyer. He lives with his mother, frequently absent, and his two younger sisters. He tells Claire that he suspects a social worker of trying to have them taken into care so she can have their flat herself.
