Following Adele’s murder, Costa and Baldi question Rocco to shed light on why Enzo Baiocchi tried to kill him. Rocco tells them the story that ruined his life. It’s 2007: Rocco is living in Rome and Marina is still alive. But she has discovered that Rocco is supplementing his salary with illegal dealings. Because of this, she leaves him and moves out.
Meanwhile, Rocco is called to investigate the murder of two boys from Rome’s upper middle class, Giovanni and Matteo, who got themselves mixed up with a dangerous circle of drug dealers. With help from his friends Furio, Brizio, and Sebastiano, he traces those responsible for the boys’ deaths: Luigi Baiocchi and Sandro Silvestrelli, two long-time traffickers. All that remains is to capture the two criminals in a delicate operation at the port of Civitavecchia. Schiavone hits his target, but the consequences will be tragic.

While Enzo Baiocchi is still on the loose, Rocco is called in to investigate the murder of the Moresi couple, found dead in their home in an advanced state of decomposition. The motive remains unclear because, despite signs of forced entry on a window, nothing in the house appears to be missing. Suspicion falls on Andrea, the couple’s drug-addicted son.
In the meantime, a new friend enters Rocco’s life: Gabriele, a 15-year-old who loves punk rock and is a disaster at school. Even without softening his rough demeanor, Rocco takes the boy under his wing. But a call from Rome forces him to travel: Sebastiano has launched a personal war against the world in order to avenge his woman.

As Rocco heads to the station with Gabriele to tutor him and try to save him from failing the year, a passerby spots a lifeless body floating in the Dora River. It’s a transgender woman of unknown identity, strangled. For this new investigation, Rocco must deal with Michela Gambino, a forensic police inspector who not only harbors a wide range of conspiracy theories but has also taken over the deputy commissioner’s office.
Meanwhile in Rome, Sebastiano seems to have lost his senses: he physically threatens Enzo Baiocchi’s daughter in a desperate attempt to find him. To escape, Baiocchi seeks shelter and new documents from Juan Gonzalez Barrio, a South American criminal he’s worked with in the past, leaving a trail of blood behind him.

A nameless body is found among the hills of Castel di Decima in Rome. In his pocket, there’s only a note with Schiavone’s phone number on it. Rocco is forced to return to Rome to confront his dark past—a task that becomes increasingly difficult, since someone has been informing the chief of police of his every move for some time. There’s a mole in the precinct. For the first time, Schiavone can’t trust anyone except Caterina and young Gabriele.
Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner of Spinaceto, who is investigating the Castel di Decima murder, discovers a connection between the victim and the Honduran embassy. That’s all Rocco needs to understand that the victim was linked to Enzo Baiocchi. Following this lead, Rocco glimpses the chance to catch Baiocchi once and for all, solve the Castel di Decima murder, and get Sebastiano out of trouble—assuming the mole doesn’t stop him.
