The closeness is too much and they start to kiss. Tony keen to see Kristen rushes to see if there is a ferry to the island. Bo tries to recall their past to Hope, but she can't remember anything. When Mike escorts Marlena home, he checks her apartment, as he feels quilty for giving away her alarm code. After struggling with Celeste who ran out, Austin comes to Billie's rescue. She explains about her dream. When Celeste ran out she left behind her book of Hope memories. Billie now realised that someone thought she was Hope and she must find proof to give to Bo before he and Hope make love. As Marlena sleeps, Stefano appears from inside her closet and has a mask and cape on.

Celeste is on the same train as Billie to make sure she stays away from Salem. Jonah and Lexie are also on the same train going to a medical convention, not realising the other was going. Billie meets Celeste on the train and remembers her from New Orleans and then figures she was the one brainwashing Gina. Celeste denies this. Billie and Lexie meet in the walkway and Billie tells her why she's leaving Salem. Lexie tells her to go back and fight for her man, but Celeste meets Billie again as she's about to get of the train and persuades her with a tarot card reading to stay on the train. Celeste predicts much happiness for Billie. Lexie sees Celeste for the first time and think she looks familiar. While this is all happening, Bo is on his motorbike following the train to the next slow down point, where he gets on a nearby train and jumps onto Billie's train as it passes. Jennifer and Kristen get together with Billie for a girl’s night and invite Gina to join them. They have a fun time together. Billie asks them all to be her bridesmaids. Kristen tells Billie her wedding gift to her is a French designer who will make any type gown she wants. A masked Stefano takes Marlena on another nighttime journey to a golden tent, where he has two handmaidens pamper her and give her a bath. He reveals himself to Marlena, but she does not recognize him. John offers his assitance to Father Francis. Father Frances tells John he used to help him with his studies in mysticism. Both wonder why evil has hit Salem. Father Francis tells John "Why is Salem where the evil has come". Father Paul delivers some ancient scrolls to Father Francis. As soon as he opens the scrolls, the lights go out. Kristen calls him as this is happening and rushes over to the church, to find him collapsed on the floor. He warns her that “Satan is in Salem.” As John is leaving church, the desecrator destroys one of the statues.

Father Paul tells Kristen that the ancient scrolls may have caused Father Francis' attack. Kristen visits with Father Francis, who is now at the hospital in a stroke-like state. Kristen runs into Tony and says she thinks John can help with Father Francis' warning. Kristen then tells Dr. Bader she's not ready to start a family yet and asks her for birth control pills. Stefano is angry at Celeste with her constant reading of the tarot cards. She says she has to keep the evil spirits away. Later, Celests is aghast when she ends up with the death tarot card and realizes Satan is near. John tells Caroline that he knows good will prevail over evil. Marlena tells John about her nightmare and that the man reminded her of Stefano. John and Marlena go to church and find the statue destroyed. They call in Abe, who finds a key near the statue. Stefano watches Marlena again from inside the wardrobe. Vivan gets restless and tells Ivan that she needs to stop Kate and Victor's wedding. Kate fears that Vivian is overwhelmed by the planning. Victor hires Olga's mother, Mrs. Johannsen, to look after Vivian and make sure she eats correctly. John goes to visit Vivian to help him out with his past. He needs her to sign the petition for his removal from the priesthood as she is his only living relative in America.

Before returning to Salem, Laura reads a goodbye note from ìClarkî, thanking her again for all she did. Jennifer, Peter and Abigail visit Santa in Salem Place. An elf asks if ìmomî (Jennifer) and ìdadî (Peter) want their picture taken with Abigail, and they happily agree. Alice says Jack can make Jennifer and Abigail happy, but Jennifer disagrees. Jack arrives back in Salem and watches them from afar. Later, Jack surprises Alice by eating her Christmas cookies as she arrives home, and he asks for her help. John needs Vivian to tell Bishop Andrews that he doesn't want to be a priest since she is his only living relative in the US, but wonders why she's so eager to help. Vivian confesses it's to make Victor happy, since Brady is his grandson. At Bishop Andrews office, a ìcardinalî (Stefano) listens to John and Vivian's conversation. As Vivian and Ivan leave, the cardinal walks by and Vivian kisses his ring. She tells Ivan she recognized the ring. After John leaves, Stefano hides John's file under a stack of other files. Marlena wonders why she feels empty since the mystery man (Stefano) did not visit her in her dreams last night. Gina questions her as to what is wrong. Bo stops by and tells Gina he'll have more time soon to help her find out who she is. Gina tells Bo that Celeste could help them, but he says to stay away from her. Not listening, she tries to see Celeste, but Celeste runs away from her. A worried and upset Celeste wants to leave town but Stefano will not go until Marlena is totally his. Marlena tells Abe and Bo she's done a psychological profile on the desecrator, and is worried that more bad things could happen soon. In church, the desecrator raises a book to smash over Gina's head.

The person in black had covered their face commando style. Then we see gloved hands removing grease paint from their face. They remove their cap to show blonde hair and then we see the persons face. It's MARLENA!!!!!!! Everyone pitches in to help clean the church for midnight mass. John finds the hammer Marlena dropped. The hammer has initials SB on it, and John recalls that it belongs to Shawn Brady. They figure the person doing all the damage is someone close to the Brady's. Mike tells the Christmas story at the hospital. John and Kristen go over to see Marlena to get her psychological profile. She was asleep and is shocked to learn of the desecrations. John and Kristen are worried about Marlena, she looks terrible and nearly faints. They get a doctor to look at her. They leave a sleeping Marlena. John leaves again as Marlena sleeps. A shadow appears in her room and she awakes "devil" mode saying "Yes I hear you and I will find the traitor." We see the shadow who has red eyes. Vivian's labour is a false alarm, but she's in hospital. Jennifer goes in search of "Clark" for her mother, which leads her on a plane to Chicago with an unsuspecting Jack sitting behind her. Kristen is feeling guilt ridden and after speaking with Father Francis, she finally confesses to Tony about her affair with John. John brings Marlena home and then goes to St Lukes to pray.
