Rin Tin Tin, Rusty, and an escaped prisoner, who claims he is being framed for murder, are lost in a severe dust storm in the middle of the desert. To make matters worse, they are nearly out of water, and Rinty is suffering from a venomous snake bite.

The wife of a missing miner, who is presumed dead, arrives at the post looking for her husband's gold mine. The outlaw who robbed and shot him thinks the wife may have received a letter with information about the mines location. Lt. Rip Masters, Sgt. O'Hara, Rusty, and Rin Tin Tin accompany her on the search using clues from her letter. The outlaws kidnap the wife but are stopped by Rinny and the troopers.
