Later that day, Steph calls her father to apologise for the hurt that she has caused. Alan hangs up in fury before breaking down in tears as the magnitude of the situation finally hits home. The tension mounts between the lonely individuals and before long they are wrapped around one another, forgetting all about the chicken sizzling under the grill. Andy tells Jack that he thinks the Kings were responsible for spiking his drinks the previous night. The angry father confronts Jimmy in the pub but the arrogant King denies any involvement. Jimmy, Cain and Robert get together and decide it's time to get heavy with Andy. They agree that if his barn were to go up in flames he wouldn't get a penny if it was made to look like an insurance job, therefore forcing him to sell the land. That evening, they turn up at the farm with arson in mind. Andy's Alsatian dog barks which alerts his attention and he goes to investigate. Cain attacks Andy as Jimmy sets light to the barn and Robert looks on with horror as his brother is brutally beaten to the ground. Daz arrives and fearing for Andy's life he grabs a pitch fork and lunges it into Jimmy. A run-in with the law brings Marlon and Donna together. When Donna and Viv arrive in Newcastle to hand over Marlon's treasured knife, Mack, for the cooking competition, they are shocked to find they've managed to misplace it somewhere. Marlon and Donna go in search for it and finally find it at the Metro lost property office. Marlon jokingly threatens to kill Viv in front of police officers who take him seriously and lock him in a cell. Eventually they release Marlon who is now extremely late for the competition. Zoe leaves a panic-stricken message on Callum’s phone and she is thankful when he eventually arrives home with the passports. Effie gets the kids together and they go to catch their plane, whilst Zoe and Callum head for the boat. They arrive at the marina in Ireland and Zoe waits with anticipation for Effie, Joseph and Jean. She is excited when the seaplane arrives but is stunned when Sadie steps out. It's the day of the trial and Zoe puts on a brave face as Ashley comes over to look after Joseph and Jean. She hugs her daughter and nephew tight as she says goodbye, fearing that it could be the last time she sees them. As the court case commences, Paddy is pacing the floor outside. When the vet eventually takes to the stand, both Zoe and Scott watch with fear and the entire congregation are shocked by what he has to say. The jury give their verdict. Zoe is found not guilty, much to Scott's anger. Later, while drowning his sorrows in the Woolpack, Scott discovers from Betty that Zoe is leaving with the kids. He heads round to Home Farm, armed with a shotgun, and holds Zoe, Callum and the kids hostage, although he lets Joseph go straight afterwards.

As Alice has her scan she can barely bring herself to look at the screen but Sam takes comfort in the nurse's assurance that everything seems fine. Afterwards, Alice nervously waits with Sam and Emily for her haematology tests. On the way home Sam is horrified when he runs over his prize cockerel and becomes convinced it is a bad omen for Alice's health. Ethan is nervous as he is about to conduct his first funeral and he feels the pressure to give Max a good send off. After the funeral, Andy arrives to pay his respects to Max, but Tom furiously tells him to leave.
