Michael is trying to thumb a lift home. Annie is looking very perky. Sarah teases her about Leonard. He then telephones and she giggles like a schoolgirl on the phone. Jack doesn't like to see his mother behaving like this. Seth is fixing up a banner outside The Woolpack advertising the Christmas meal. Alan notices Michael arriving back in the village in a van. Zoe calls on Archie. She tries to mix trouble between him and Lindsay by flirting with him. Lorraine makes a surprise visit to see Carol. She has made her a home made Christmas card. Carol then ruins things by talking to her about Christmas. Amos and Leonard have a walk.

It is Christmas morning. Jack calls at Amos's cottage to see Leonard. Amos worries that he is there to cause more trouble. Kathy finds Kim staring into space - she is thinking about her situation. She tries to make Kathy feel sorry for her as she is torn between two men but Kathy has little sympathy. Peter Whiteley is overloaded with presents. Lorraine feels a bit neglected. Jack apologises to Leonard. He tries to explain that he was just offering advice and offers more if Jack needs it. Carol is opening her presents on her own, but then Lorraine visits. She has made Carol a jewellery box. Presents are unwrapped at Emmerdale. Annie has bought Sangeeta a brooch.

It is Boxing Day. Frank is drinking again and Zoe has stayed up all night with him. Chris and Kathy have also stayed at Home Farm. Kim is with Neil and seems quite happy. She encourages Neil to go to the Boxing Day Hunt at Robblesfield. Mark asks Sangeeta to go to the hunt with him. Rachel overhears and decides to go along and distribute her anti-hunt leaflets. Chris finds that Frank has passed out on the sofa. He removes some empty bottles, but Frank wakes up and gets violent. He pushes Chris out of the way and staggers out to his car.

Chris rings Zoe up for a progress report on Frank. She is fed up that she might have to spend New Year's Eve alone at Home Farm. Kathy is short with Chris and seems to have made plans to avoid him. Sarah asks Joe for all the gossip on Kim and Frank. She is busy trying to think of ways to make money for the farm - llamas, maggots. Michael sees Rachel in the village. She is waiting for Jayesh to arrive from Leeds. He declines her offer of a drink and watches them walk off together. Rachel still suspects Michael of being the prowler. Frank is sober. He asks Chris for a progress report on the businesses. Chris has nothing to tell him. Frank is obviously not going ahead with the partnership with Neil in the model farm now, but is still considering the driving range as a solo venture.
