Somewhere on Earth is off to re-discover Croatia. This country in the southern Balkans, is a land of contrasts is surprisingly rich in natural wonders. First we meet Goran Safarek, a biologist and nature photographer, in the Kopački rit Park, a vast wetland sanctuary for Europe’s largest wild animals and thousands of birds. Then we meet Petra Kovac Konrad, a scuba diving enthusiast and geologist, who is exploring the Balkan caves in search of a strange and mysterious creature: the proteus. Finally we meet Sebastien Dao, an inveterate sailor and adventure raid organizer, in the Kornati Islands.

Somewhere on Earth is off to visit the faraway land of Patagonia, one of the most sparsely populated regions on earth. At the extreme tip of South America, Southern Chile lifts the veil on its fragile beauty. First we meet Carlos Barria. He is one of the southernmost men on Earth. Carlos is a seaman but also a cattleman. His ranch is very close to the mythical Cape Horn. Then we meet Philippe Reuter. This enthusiastic mountaineer lives at the foot of the Andes’ immense glaciers. Finally we meet Jorge Arratia. He knows all the secrets of the balseros, the raftsmen of Patagonia. In a remote valley, the lumberjacks harvest cypress wood and transport it down the Rio Baker, to the sea.

Somewhere on Earth is off to Malawi, in southern Africa. This little-known country, overshadowed by its larger neighbors Mozambique, Tanzania and Zambia, is one of the poorest places on Earth. Malawi, a land of plains and highlands, is also home to an immense lake that covers 20% of its territory. Gaspar, 27 years old, is the proud owner of an amazing, one-of-a-kind guitar. He earns his living thanks to his instrument and his passion for music. Now, after 11 years on the road, he’s on his way back to his native village. Freddie’s realm is the sky. This young Dane grew up in Tanzania and learned how to fly in South Africa. Freddie, always ready for adventure, loves Africa and is now a full-fledged bush pilot. Teresa, a determined young woman, is a champion runner. Year after year, she has won one of the sport’s most challenging events, an extreme half-marathon up the slopes of Mount Mulanje, Malawi’s highest mountain.

Fiji: an archipelago located in the Pacific Ocean. Of its more than 300 islands, only about 100 are inhabited. First we meet Manasa Bulivou, from Benga. In the shelter of the barrier reef , Manasa goes diving with his son Tumbi to feed their guardian angels: the Shark Gods. Then we meet Hannah Bennett. She is a surfing champion. Her quest will take her all the way to Cloudbreak, one of the most beautiful waves in the world. Finally we meet Franck Boivert, a rugby coach. He combs the villages of the outlying islands hoping to discover the rare gem of Fijian rugby.

Somewhere on Earth invites you to the Far North, to the Kingdom of Norway. First, we will meet Heidi Sevestre. She’s a glaciologist and lives year round in the Svalbard Islands, in the Arctic Circle. Then we meet Aleksander Lyngberg. Lapland is an ideal terrain for him to live out his passions: fishing and snowkiting. Finally, we meet Terje Isungset. This musician and composer draws his inspiration from the elements of Nature. He is blazing new trails in music and doing the impossible: he makes ice music.

Somewhere on Earth is headed for New Mexico, the 5th largest state of the USA. With barely 1% of the population, it is one of the country’s most sparsely populated regions. Situated between Texas and Arizona, New Mexico is a wide-open land of desert and mountain. Sarah grew up in Taos on the banks of the legendary Rio Grande. She is a devoted fan of this river, where she spends most of her time on her favorite activity, white water kayaking. James lives on the cusp of speed, risk and fear. Tearing along at over 80 km/h he’s in search of the perfect balance between adrenaline and harmony. For him, skateboarding is more than an extreme sport; it is an art in itself. Ten years ago, Kristi returned here to the ancestral Apache lands in the southern part of the state, in search of her identity. Now, she is undertaking a pilgrimage to the heart of the Indian world and thus retracing her own history.
