It's been two years since John Falk and Frank Wagner broke their cooperation and Frank ended up as undercover for the police. Frank has just had the opening of his bar when his ex-girlfriend's brother Kevin get into trouble because of gambling debts. At the same time John and GSI Group, together with the German police, try to bring down an unusually ruthless gang selling a new type of drug that is hard on young people. Frank's search for Kevin crosses Johan's investigation and opens up a new collaboration between them.

It's a beautiful day in Slottsskogen, Göteborg idyllic city park, when suddenly the unthinkable happens - gunfire amidst all people. Two gangsters shooting game against each other and a large police operation starts. The conflict grows rapidly to involve several gangs from Gothenburg underworld. GSI switched to try to identify a new thread which proves to be both larger and better armed than any other. The only clue is a tattoo on one of the killed gang members. Johan Falk and his colleagues at GSI soon realizes that the flare-up gangster war grows to their most dangerous and violent event ever.

Some men force their way into the home of retired chief engineer Arthur Jönsson. They look through the house for a few drawings. Some time later the same men, who turns out to be former Swedish military, commit a robbery. Johan Falk and his colleagues at GSI get an uneasy feeling that the robbery is just an exercise for a much larger robbery. A robbery, as it turns out, will make all the other robberies in police history fade by comparison.

Johan Falk's stepdaughter Nina has finally got in better contact with her biological father contractor Orjan. But Orjan is flawed. He is in debt to an Estonian construction company involved in a municipal construction project in Göteborg. This results in Nina being kidnapped. What the kidnappers not counted on is Nina's step-father is a police officer. Johan and GSI's involvement creates a snowball effect that leads up to the top tier of northern Europe's most dangerous mafia, the Russian-Estonia Karayan Organization, a mob composed of former intelligence officers from the KGB. Karayan decides to resolve the situation in Sweden permanently. For Johan, this will be his life's most personal journey into the underworld of Göteborg.

A youth gang specializes in robbing security guards at shopping centers in Göteborg. Police call them "Nude robbers" because they force the guards to strip before they make off with the cash in security bags. A robbery goes awry when an innocent passerby gets killed while the dye ampoules in bags explode. Now, the gang's young leader Ricky must quickly get the money laundered, before he must pay the criminal mastermind who sold him the robbery instructions.
