The body of François Claret, owner of the famous gastronomic guide Claret, is found in his apartment by poisoning. Very quickly convinced of the innocence of François Claret's wife, Judge Alice Nevers investigates with Lieutenant Romance in the restaurant industry. All tracks lead to Jacques Villeroy, owner of a restaurant classified "3 stars". In the latest edition of the Claret guide, its restorer has lost a star. And his relations with Sautereau, the Director General of the Guide Claret, who succeeds François Claret, are dubious to say the least. While investigating Jacques Villeroy's past, Alice Nevers will discover that François Claret and him were linked for a very long time. Alice Nevers and Lieutenant Romance will manage to unmask the culprit by saving Jacques Villeroy from the premeditated revenge of the murderer.

Nathalie Perros, a young female fire brigade officer, was shot dead during an intervention in a difficult neighbourhood. At first, suspicions are focused on Tony Serrano, a young man from the city, known for having assaulted firefighters in the past. However, the judge explores another much more delicate track: that of the young woman's colleagues. Alice Nevers is indeed certain that the murder was premeditated. Two men at the Saint-Marc barracks find themselves in the judge's sights: Sergeant Armandin, an officer with a shady temperament who could have killed Nathalie out of professional jealousy, and Major Roissy, head of the rescue center who seemed to harbor a tenacious resentment towards the victim linked to a personal tragedy.
