Gilles Bertrand, a drug addict, is found dead in the port of the Bastille. He had a 7-year-old child, Clement, who is being raised by his grandparents. Romance and Judge Nevers learn that Celine, the boy's mother, who has been incarcerated for six years, was released the day before the murder.
