Hegra lies in the Saudi Arabian desert – once the most important southern city of the Nabataean Kingdom and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The monumental rock tombs tell of a highly developed culture that mastered trade, architecture, and water technology. But despite its importance, the history of the Nabataeans is little known.
