Wreck Detectives

In the waters off the isle of wight lie the unidentified remains of a nineteenth century ship. Could it be the lost wreck of a famous British frigate sunk during the Napoleonic wars. The wreck detectives team has one week to find out.

This week we are in Dorset to find out more about our worst maritime tragedies. For in these waters in 1805, in clear sight of shore, over 250 people lost their lives. The captain of the ship was non-other than William Wordsworth brother John.

This week we are in the Sound of Mull on Scotland's west coast to try and identify a mystery wreck which founded in the shadow of Mingary Castle hundreds of years ago.

This week we are in Guernsey to find out about a cluster of medieval shipwrecks lying on the seabed just outside the islands main harbor. The challenge is to investigate not one but five wrecks. We need to find out how old they are, where they came from and what they were doing in Guernsey.

This week we are investigating a seventeenth century royal warship built by Charles I to chase down pirates that were terrorizing British ships on the high seas.

This week the wreck detectives are in West Sussex to explore the remains of an eighteenth century man of war. Could it be the wreck of a once magnificent warship, built by the French, only to be captured and used against them by the Royal Navy. The wreck detectives team has just one week to find out.
