The actor returns with another exploration of the rich history and culture of his home county, discovering some of Northumberland's best-kept secrets. In the first programme, GP and keen diver Ben Burville takes Robson out to one of the deepest parts of the North Sea in search of white-beaked dolphins. Next, he visits Cragside, once the country retreat of Victorian inventor Lord Armstrong and the first house in the world to be powered by hydroelectricity. Finally, Robson heads to Druridge Bay at sunrise to brave the chilly waters with a group of skinny-dippers.

The actor canoes along Northumberland's longest river, the Coquet, discovering its wildlife and hidden history. He then visits Warkworth Hermitage, an ancient chapel accessibly by boat, and stops off at Warkworth Castle, before heading to Amble to hear the story of a seal that surprised two surfers last summer by taking a ride with them. Finally, Robson heads across the bay by kayak to Coquet Island, an RSPB nature reserve that is home to Britain's rarest nesting seabird - the roseate tern.

On the trail of some of Northumberland's greatest historical treasures, the actor goes diving at the Farne Islands, discovering mysterious cannons and the wreck of a ship sunk by the Luftwaffe during the Second World War. He then finds out about Roman relics unearthed in his home county, including the Corbridge Hoard, discovered by students in 1964, and the Vindolanda Tablets, the oldest handwritten documents in Britain. Finally, he visits Lindisfarne to hear stories of the Viking raid on the island and the legacy left behind by these Norse invaders.

The actor meets those who are keeping the region's rich industrial heritage alive. At Amble, he joins a community boat project aiming to revive traditional wooden boat-building skills, and takes part in a boat race at the harbour. He then heads to Allendale to spend a day working with the Dodd family on Britain's last horse-powered farm. Robson also learns about Northumberland's role in the birth of the railways and meets the steam enthusiasts who are bidding to rebuild the disused Alnwick to Alnmouth line.

The actor explores some of the region's greatest natural wonders. At Chillingham, he encounters one of the world's oldest breeds of cattle, which, he discovers, is also one of the most dangerous. Setting up camp in the countryside, Robson meets a couple who call themselves `wild gourmets' as they prepare a meal using ingredients hand-picked from Kielder Forest. He then learns about the county's unique rock formations, joining geologist Ian Kille to abseil down a cliff face at Cullernose Point.
