Rutger en de uitkeringstrekkers

Rutger visits three people on benefits. Cindy from Zaandam was declared unfit for work at a young age due to a hernia and osteoarthritis and has since lived on disability benefits (Wajong). She finds meaning in her foundation for people in poverty. Tomek, a freelancer with a spinal cord injury after a diving accident, is trying to recover from his wheelchair while he and his wife survive on very little. Ed from The Hague has been living on welfare for thirty years and smokes medicinal marijuana daily with his girlfriend Sonja, something he's not proud of.

Rutger visits street musician Maurice in The Hague. For about 25 years, Maurice has been receiving benefits after having to give up his dream of breaking through as a performer. Now he entertains people on the street and tries to make them laugh. Huub, on the other hand, has his whole life ahead of him, but he's stuck at home with chronic depression. Assistance dog Happy helps him with this. Iris has two young children and receives benefits, which allows her to work less. Together with her mother, Karin, she's managing quite well, exercising regularly and eating healthily.

Rutger meets three different people who are home from work on benefits. Janneke has chronic fatigue syndrome and is therefore completely disabled. She finds meaning in life through her social media followers. Robert struggles with PTSD due to traumatic incidents he experienced during his time as a police officer. Because he has difficulty tolerating stimuli, he spends most of his time at home. Roxanne has suffered from various physical and mental ailments for years and became completely disabled after a fall from her horse. The longer she stays home, the less self-confidence she experiences.

Rutger meets people who are unwilling or unable to work. Netty, after thirty years of marriage, decides to quit the rat race. Due to her hypersensitivity, she doesn't feel comfortable working and now lives on welfare in her own way. Lian and her boyfriend, Jeffry, share benefits with their assistance dog, Pupper. After a brain tumor and PTSD, Lian has barely been able to work, although for now it seems to be a question of whether she can't or doesn't want to. Things are different for Emiel and Sabrina: Emiel has terminal cancer and can no longer work, although he himself believes in a miracle that he can still live for years.
