Luna, the new resident at the Emergency Department, is doing her best to prove herself. It doesn't help that her mother Rose is on her skin. Chief physician Milo skillfully keeps his affair with nurse Ingrid hidden. The highly flammable nurse Kees has to deal with difficult patients. Rose, an oncologist and board member, fights against budget cuts and impresses the new psychiatrist Casper in doing so.

Luna does not follow protocol when she administers morphine to a patient and gets her mother on her roof. Milo and Casper get stuck in the treatment of a critically ill man with fear of needlesticks.

Luna sympathizes enormously with a seriously ill patient and therefore speaks loudly. Rose doubts whether Luna is tough enough for her profession. Rose herself is under pressure to make cuts.

Luna comes into conflict with the more experienced nurse Kyra about a pregnant patient who is considering an abortion. Milo and Kees are each touched in their own way by an old, sick man who has no one.

Luna's father Simon reports to the ER with a large cut. Kyra discovers his secret. While Luna and Casper insist on psychological help, Rose suffers from shame.

Luna's friend has an epileptic seizure the morning after a party and Luna goes to the emergency room, broke and in good shape. She takes a bad turn with Kyra and her mother.

Luna wants to prove herself and assists in the operating room, much to Kyra's annoyance. She has to deal with a bully of a surgeon. Kees treats a Bulgarian man who has been thrown out of a car in front of the door.

Door voetbalrellen is het chaos op de SEH en dat terwijl Milo zich helemaal niet lekker voelt. Hij behandelt een gewonde supporter die zijn nier zou doneren aan zijn vrouw, maar het is de vraag of de transplantatie nog door kan gaan. Dakloze diabetespatiënt Nico brengt Kees op het idee om te gaan daten, maar moet zelf dealen met een ingrijpend verlies. Kyra geeft een dronken, agressieve supporter lik op stuk. Luna mist een signaal, met grote gevolgen voor de patiënt.

Na haar fout worstelt Luna met faalangst. Ze moet een eigenzinnige vrouw met een hoge BMI in haar eentje behandelen, omdat Milo opstandig is en in zijn hoofd vooral bezig is met de uitslag van zijn scan. Kyra roept de hulp in van Casper bij een patiënt die beweert te zijn vergiftigd. Terwijl Kees een match heeft met een leuke vrouw, voelt Rose zich eenzaam en zoekt zij toenadering tot Casper. Olivia krijgt het aan de stok met Pierre.

Casper moet naar een congres in Berlijn en probeert Rose zover te krijgen dat ze meegaat. Rose twijfelt en krijgt ondertussen Pierre op haar dak die wil dat zij Olivia ontslaat. Luna behandelt samen met Casper een verwarde man die verdacht wordt van huiselijk geweld. Ze ontdekt iets wat ze liever niet had willen weten. Kees verhuist zijn opstandige moeder naar een verzorgingstehuis en voelt zich schuldig, helemaal als blijkt dat zij de benen heeft genomen. Tot slot kan Milo zijn ziekte niet langer verborgen houden.
