Michelle and Rod's six-year-old daughter Maddie has a rare brain disease which has left her struggling to walk and talk. The Malones have spent the last two years adapting their home so that it works for Maddie's condition but unforeseen problems with the build have left them living in just a couple of rooms in a house that is unsafe.
