Midnight Mass

The First Mass of Christmas, live from Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral. The Preacher and Celebrant will be the Most Rev Patrick Kelly, Archbishop of Liverpool.

The first Mass of Christmas, celebrated in the spectacular setting of London's Westminster Cathedral. The homily is given by the Most Rev Vincent Nichols, celebrating his first Midnight Mass as Archbishop of Westminster, and a thousand-strong congregation sing well-loved carols including Once in Royal David's City and O Come All Ye Faithful.

The traditional service for Christmas Eve, live from The Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King, Liverpool. The Celebrant and Preacher is the Most Rev Patrick Kelly, Archbishop of Liverpool. Music includes Widor's Mass (op 36), and a host of carols including O Come All Ye Faithful, O Little Town Of Bethlehem, Silent Night, It Came Upon The Midnight Clear and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, as well as pieces by Tallis, Berlioz, Rutter and Duffy.

The first Mass of Christmas comes live from St George's Roman Catholic Cathedral in Southwark, with the congregation singing traditional carols including Unto Us is Born a Son, O Come All Ye Faithful and Of the Father's Heart Begotten.

Midnight Mass for Christmas Eve comes live from St Anne's Cathedral in the heart of Leeds. The choir, directed by Ben Saunders, sing Louis Vierne's Messe Solonelle and well-loved carols such as O Come All Ye Faithful, O Little Town of Bethlehem and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.

The traditional service for Christmas Eve, live from Westminster Abbey. The celebrant and preacher is the Very Rev Dr John Hall, Dean of Westminster. The choir, directed by James O'Donnell, sing Kodály's Missa Brevis and O Magnum Mysterium (Victoria). Familiar carols include O Come All Ye Faithful, O Little Town Of Bethlehem and Hark! the Herald Angels Sing.

A traditional Christmas Eve Roman Catholic mass from the picturesque town of Arundel in West Sussex, including the familiar carols O Come All Ye Faithful, Silent Night and Hark! the Herald Angels Sing. The principal celebrant and preacher is the dean, the reverend canon Tim Madeley. The choir, directed by Elizabeth Stratford, sing the mass setting Gounod in C and anthems including A Boy Is Born (Will Todd). The organist is Daniel Moult.

The Archbishop of Southwark, the Most Reverend Peter Smith, celebrates the first Mass of Christmas in the inspiring setting of St George's Cathedral. The cathedral choir and congregation sing favourite carols, including Hark the Herald Angels Sing and O Come, All Ye Faithful.

A traditional Christmas Eve Midnight Mass led by the Archbishop of Birmingham, the Most Reverend Bernard Longley. Features favourite carols including Away in a Manger and In the Bleak Midwinter, sung by the renowned St Chad's Cathedral Choir.

Leeds Cathedral Choir, with director of music Benjamin Saunders, lead the congregation in well-loved carols including O Come All Ye Faithful, Unto Us Is Born a Son and Hark! the Herald Angels Sing. The mass setting is Haydn's St Nicholas Mass, and the organist is David Pipe.

The traditional Christmas Eve celebration of Midnight Mass, live from Buckfast Abbey in Devon. The celebrant and preacher is the abbot of Buckfast, the Rev David Charlesworth OSB, and well-loved carols include Adeste Fideles, It Came Upon the Midnight Clear and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. The Abbey Choir sing Charpentier's joyful Christmas mass, Messe de Minuit, under the direction of Philip Arkwright and the organist is Matthew Searles.

The traditional Christmas Eve celebration of Midnight Mass comes live from Croydon Minster, which amongst its treasures contains the tombs of six archbishops of Canterbury. The service is led by the Rev Dr Andrew Bishop and the preacher is the Bishop of Croydon, the Rt Rev Jonathan Clark. The choir, directed by Ronny Krippner, sings Mozart's Great Credo Mass in C and leads the congregation in well-loved carols, including It Came Upon a Midnight Clear and Hark! the Herald Angels Sing, accompanied by organist Tom Little.

The traditional Christmas Eve service live from the architecturally stunning Roman Catholic cathedral of St Peter and St Paul in Bristol. The service is led by the bishop of Clifton, the Rt Rev Declan Lang, and the preacher is Canon Bosco MacDonald. The cathedral’s Schola Cantorum, conducted by Richard Jeffrey-Gray, sing Christmas favourites including Silent Night and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.

Celebrate the traditional first mass of Christmas with a joyful service live from St Chad’s Cathedral in the heart of Birmingham. The celebrant and preacher is the archbishop of Birmingham, the Most Rev Bernard Longley. The music includes well-loved carols, such as O Come, All Ye Faithful and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, and the cathedral choir will sing Richard Causton’s haunting Cradle Song and the Christmas motet Tui sunt caeli by Lassus.

Live from Blackburn Cathedral, the traditional celebration of the first Mass of Christmas and the Blessing of the Crib. The music is led by Blackburn Cathedral Chorus, with traditional favourites such as 'Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day' and 'On Christmas Night All Christians Sing', as well as a new arrangement of a traditional Ukrainian carol, 'Deepest Wonder', set to a Ukrainian folk tune. The Eucharist setting is taken from French composer Louis Vierne's dramatic 'Messe Solennelle'.

The choir, accompanied by His Majesty's Royal Marines Band Service, are led by organist and master of the choristers Dr David Price.
