Wonders of UNESCO

Cradle of the Roman Empire, maritime republics and renaissance, Italy is one of the countries that has most influenced Western civilization.

Spain is rich in many influences which have crossed its history to make it the third country in the world in terms of the number of sites classified by Unesco.

Monarchical or revolutionary, eldest daughter of the church then country of the Enlightenment, the heritage of France is the shining testimony of this tumultuous history. It attracts nearly 90 million tourists a year, making it one of the most visited countries in the world. UNESCO did not resist its charms either, and has classified more than forty of its properties.

The poets portray Portugal as a vast strip of land with a smile on the estuary. But behind this welcoming air hides a formidable conqueror. For several centuries, Portugal was the land of the Great Discoveries. The explorers and great navigators had for point of departure its ports, mirrors of the maritime power of the country. On the banks of the Tagus, at the mouth of the Douro, or facing the ocean, gold, spices and cultures were exchanged.

Croatian identity has been marked throughout its history by the influence of different historical periods and the empires that have occupied it. A true cultural crossroads, the country was the scene of Roman, Byzantine, Venetian, Hungarian and French invasions of which it still bears the stigmata. Today it is the witness of a common European history. Croatia truly became independent on June 25, 1991 during the collapse of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. It is through the Wonders of Unesco which stand on these lands that we will tell the rich history of a country with many facets. The multiple cultural identities that inhabit it have left an extraordinary heritage and intangible heritage.
