Forged In Fire Latin America

Four new participants arrive at the forge: Nicolás and Adrián, from Mexico, Manuel from Argentina and Miguel, from Spain. On the table are four closed wooden boxes. Inside there is a different material with which they must forge a Nepalese Kukri.

The trench knife was developed during World War I for soldiers to have a close combat weapon. In their design they included a mitten, brass knuckle or boxing key in the grip to be able to attack with any part of the weapon. This endowed knives with popularity and effectiveness, since they could be cutting and concussion weapons. But they should not start from a classic steel bar, but rather they should choose raw material from a forklift that goes for scrap.

Nicolás, Adrián, Manuel and Miguel face a new challenge in transforming horse rasps and a piece of 1070 steel incorporating both types of metal to make a friction razor. They must carry out the fusion process of the two materials through the Chaldean style, similar to Damascus steel, multi-laminated. The friction knife or faithful knife is one of the first folding knives that existed, with a blade that folds over the handle. It became popular in Spain in the 16th century when Carlos I promulgated a law that prohibited people who were not part of the nobility from carrying swords and long-bladed weapons. Its use was the legal shortcut that the mob found to continue carrying long bladed weapons.

It's payback day at the forge. The best two of each group have already made it to the final. And this time, four forgers return in search of revenge. The best two will advance to the final.

As a final challenge, the participants will have to forge a Left Dagger. This dagger gained popularity at the time of the Spanish Conquest when Hernán Cortés incorporated it as an essential piece of equipment among his weapons.
