In the first episode, with the liner about to depart the small Dutch speaking island of Bonaire, on the bridge Captain Bob gets word the winches down in the mooring station on Deck 3 aren't working. Captain Bob Oliver heads the Royal Princess to the US Virgin Islands and St Thomas on his last tour of duty after 46 years at sea. Downstairs on deck 6, Bob's officers have sprung a surprise farewell party on him. As his wife Sally looks on, he's unable to supress a tear. In the Princess Theatre, 12 backstage staff are hard at work as midnight strikes installing the set for the musical Encore.
