Rob McGarigle is a New England native skater that, like many others, can't get the North East out of his system. Now residing in GA, Rob not only regularly takes road trips to skate New England, he also travels to various events & rinks throughout the U.S. Rob returned to skating a few years ago & hasn't looked back. He is very open with his substantially large social media following about the positive impact skating has made & continues to make on his life. In a short time Rob has become widely known among the event skating world for his willingness to always offer a handshake to anyone that might have the same, "I'm new here" look that he knows he had at one point. Rob & I sat down to talk about our shared love of New England skate culture, the skate community & more.

Will Osborne is one of the most well-versed skaters of multiple styles that I have not only met, but that I am also aware of. Will has done it at all from competitive jam & rhythm to performing as a sponsored skater all over the world. Known to his followers as dadonskates, Will not only entertains millions online, but he also consistently gives freely of his time to helping every level of skater that he comes in contact with. Whether it's skating outdoors, a Friday night session or an out-of-state event, you can catch Will passing on his knowledge of this craft to anyone who wants to learn. This episode was a perfect example of two people that can deep dive on the craft & our love for it. You're going to enjoy this one!

Rachel Mills is an avid event skater that rolls with purpose. Whether it's with those in her immediate 850 skate crew, or hundreds of others all over the country, Rachel does it with a big heart for others & a true passion for skating. We had an awesome conversation about everything that skating does for her, her family and friends.

Daniel Carlson is a lifelong skater with a story much like many of us. Dan found his passion for skating as a kid, skated for years, stepped away & found his way back. Dan is a Colorado native & although he travels further than most for skate events, I don't think I've personally been to an event on the east coast without seeing him. He is known as D-Vine to Sk8Fam & for good reason having mastered nearly every aspect of the Grapevine. Not only is a Dan an enthusiastic attendee of numerous skate events every year, but he also manufactures his own skate lights called D-Vine LED's which started simply when he decided he wanted to have a higher quality option than what he was able to find. In addition to D-Vine LED's, Dan has also created the only Colorado Skate Event that has become an annual staple. I sat down with Dan for one of the longest conversations I've had so far & enjoyed every minute. I'm sure you will too!

This would be a new segment for their series & the only long format segment to date. Although it would be different for me being the one answering the questions, their passion for skating overall made it a no-brainer. So after a couple months of coordinating schedules, I made the trip back to Pittsburgh to record this interview shot on-location at Neville RollerDrome. I hope you enjoy this unique addition to the Sk8LikeYou Podcast Series. The interview was the perfect balance of humor, emotion & passion for skating.

Brandon Nix is a lifelong skater from Alabama that is one of the most beloved people in the national skate event scene. If you’re a regular listener of the podcast then you’ve heard me talk about him before. With a talent that is only outmatched by his humility, he is very much the example of what sk8fam is all about. The highlight of my first ever USA Shuffle event was skating with this guy. I was humbled when meeting him & he conveyed a similar message to me. Brandon & sat down & basically just had a conversation about passion for skating. It was an honor to have him on the podcast & I hope you enjoy this conversation.

Derek Fitzgerald is the owner & operator of Happy Wheels Skate Center in Westbrook, ME. Derek’s journey to become a rink owner is special to say the least. Happy Wheels was a staple of both Maine & New Hampshire for decades. Derek himself worked for the company for 25 years prior to owning his own rink. The last Happy Wheels location closed in 2019 & we actually recorded this episode exactly 5 years later. In that 5 years Derek has worked tirelessly, especially during COIVD, to resurrect Happy Wheels and he succeeded. Although the building is brand new, the brand is not & Derek made it his mission to replicate the signature Happy Wheels style & it couldn’t be better. As someone that grew up skating in Maine & Happy Wheels, it is like walking back in time for me and many others. The Maine skating community continues to show gratitude to Derek for re-igniting passion for skating and for returning a staple of childhood to thousands in New England.

Laura Hunter is a Florida skater that has been in the game for most of her life. She has experienced almost every aspect of skate culture & continuously reinvigorates her enthusiasm by trying new things in the skate world. Laura’s love for skating was and continues to still be shared by her family as you’ll find out in this latest episode. Connor English is a skater & DJ whose skating ability far exceeds the norm based on the actual number of years he’s actually been rolling. Connor currently DJ’s at Skateaway Whitehall as well as other events in the Tri-State Area. As a regular skater at Roller Jam USA before closing, he makes it no secret where much of his influence as a DJ comes from. In addition to his love for skating, his love for DJing for skaters seems to be even greater. He is forthright about wanting to elevate the culture overall & introduce different kinds of music at the rink to others. Connor has a true passion for what he does which results in passionate opinions and drive. He doesn’t mince words and I was glad to hear it all. This episode is very different and may even teeter on the edge of controversy for some. No matter what, it is real, and that’s exactly the kind of conversation I want to have!

Jamie M. aka DJ JAMZ is one of the most sought-after Skate DJ’s in the event scene. Residing in Florida, his music roots are based in the freestyle genre that is synonymous with his home state & not to mention the Roller Skate scene too. Like many Skate DJ’s, JAMZ was a skater first but it was the DJ Booth that he eventually preferred over the rink floor. Through years of work he has honed his craft making him one of the most popular DJ’s among Florida skaters and event skaters from all over. JAMZ is a fixture at multiple rinks in the Orlando area as well as events like USA Shuffle Skate that takes place twice a year at Sparkles in Georgia. With a positive attitude he sincerely approaches every skate venue with the impossible goal of pleasing everyone. Using this goal as his compass, he has found great success and appreciation from skaters everywhere.
