The famous Sonderkraftfahrzeug 251 – Special purpose vehicle 251 was the most produced German armored half-track in World War 2. This vehicle was mainly used within Panzer and Panzergrenadier Divisions, although only a limited number of these were available. Soviet Anti-Tank Rifle Tactics of World War 2 based on a translated Soviet Manual from 1942. Soviet Anti-Tank rifles like the PTRD 41 and PTRS 41 created some trouble for the German Panzers, this is clearly reflected by the introduction of the so-called “Schürzen” Armor Skirts that protected the side hull and turret armor of most Panzers and Sturmgeschütze. The Panzer II is quite surprising although only equipped with a 2 cm auto-cannon it was intended to give the Panzerwaffe a tank with anti-tank capability. Although even in 1940 the 3.7 cm guns turned out to be too weak against various tanks. Fact is the Panzer II was a stopgap solution, until the Panzer III and Panzer IV could enter mass production. There several more surprising facts about the Panzer II in this video, many taken from the German Army Field Regulations (Heeresdruckvorschriften). The number of incidents seems also rather limited. The German Army had serious problems with conducting counter-attacks against the Western Allied Forces in 1943-44 this was different to the Situation on Eastern Front against the Red Army. The Jagdpanther was differently employed than regular tank destroyers like the Jagdpanzer IV. In this video we look at German primary sources on how the Jagdpanther should be used and also a bit at those for the Jagdpanzer IV.
