The Tube (London Underground)

For years, busking on the tube was illegal, because unsupervised performers posed safety problems. But surveys have shown that 80% of customers wanted to hear good music as they traveled on the underground network. This lead to what we now know as the tube busking scheme.

On the 7th of July 2005 London's underground tube system experienced something that would change its foundation for years to come. Hear from a few of the 200,000 people that were making their morning commute that fateful day.

The unprecedented 7/7 bombing and evacuation of the underground system was devastating. Police had to take control of the affected stations. Tube bosses then faced a massive recovery and repair operation, not only for the railway equipment but also their own staff.
