Two fires have razed it to the ground, floods have lapped at its doorstep and devastated its community – but 125 years on, the Bundaberg Distillery is not only surviving, it is flourishing. The Australian rum, which bears the name of its hometown, was created by a band of sugar millers in 1888, when faced with an overwhelming oversupply of molasses.
