In this episode Joe meets RAF officer Tom Heinowski and his family who are all set to move to the south coast and tackle an empty property. Tom and Katie want to do much of the work themselves and are excited about embarking on a project together, so Joe shows them a four-bedroom, rural stable conversion that needs major modernisation. Tom then hears some advice from a couple who have just completed a very similar project. We find out about the government's latest stragegy to address the UK's vacant housing issues, and we head to Cardiff to catch up with empty property officer Steve Reed who is doing his best to get abandoned homes back in use.

In this episode Joe meets Yvonne Ingley, who has recently taken up the challenge of reviving a 1930s semi-detached home. She's got big plans to reconfigure the empty property, but is desperate for some inspiration as to how to best use the space. Joe takes her to meet a couple who have completely remodelled a bungalow leaving them with a home they are very happy with. We find out about a new training scheme that offers apprenticeships for young people while carrying out maintenance work on empty properties so that they can be lived in once again.
