Taking place in Wu Xie's hometown, Wu Shan Ju, Huo You Xin (part of the Mystic Nine Huo family) heads to Wu Shan Ju to demand an explanation for the sudden death of her employee, and also infects the manager Bai She. However, both Huo You Xin and Bai She gets infected with the strange affliction, leaving them with no choice but to ask for Wu Xie's help. Under Wu Xie's advice, they arrive at a mysterious cave to find the source of the affliction and its cure.

In the process, Liu Sang runs into trouble with Wu Shan Ju's temporary owner, Huo Dao Fu, and his right-hand man, Pao Sa. Huo and Pao plot to take revenge on Liu Sang, but ends up leading Liu directly into one of Wu Shan Ju's oldest secrets: the mystery of a female portrait that cannot be removed from the outer walls of Wu Shan Ju.

A servant of the Yin family, Luo Cha, is near-death and inflected with a hex. Wu Xie directs Luo Cha to Wu Shan Ju for help where he was met by the temporary owner, Huo Dao Fu, and Wu Xie's employee, Kan Jian. Together, Huo and Kan use a method involving the burning of bones, but unexpectedly uncover the secrets from 18 years ago.
