We’re back! After countless requests, comedian, actor, and writer David Mitchell has joined Rob for a chat at The Comedy Store. They talk about when David first became aware of Rob on Yes Sir I Can Boogie in the 90’s, meeting properly for the first time on Annually Retentive, and their new tour with WILTY co-star Lee Mack, ‘Brydon, Mack & Mitchell Town to Town’. They also reminisce about some of the iconic scenes in David’s award-winning sitcom, Peep Show.

Multi award-winning comedian Russell Howard joins Rob to talk about trying to complete his stand-up world tour during the pandemic and how that led to his Netflix documentary ‘Until The Wheels Come Off’. Russell also shares stories about his comedic heroes, Billy Connolly and Frank Skinner – and how Frank’s hair ended up all over his kitchen floor!

Actress and comedian Emily Atack joins Rob to talk about being brought up in a showbiz household, leaving home at sixteen and leaping to fame when she landed a role in The Inbetweeners. She tells him how she struggled to break the mould from ‘blonde girl next door’ to a respected comedian and actress, but how she’s now exactly where she wants to be in life.

Joining Rob this week is comedian, writer and fellow podcast host James Acaster! James discusses his journey to finding his comedic voice and feeling comfortable on stage through analysing other comedians, listening to the audience and realising that the ‘cool guy’ persona wasn’t the right fit for him. They also chat about James’ first time performing comedy sketches at Church with his dad and his first time as a panellist on WILTY.

This week Rob is joined by actor, comedian, and musician Bill Bailey! Bill talks about his tour Bill Bailey: En Route To Normal, his experience of being fought over by his teachers in school due to being sporty, theatrical and musical, and they reminisce about performing Always On My Mind together (link below!). Bill also tells Rob about feeling like the underdog on Strictly Come Dancing, and how that spurred him and Oti to go on and win the show!

All the way from LA, Rob is joined by legendary British comedian and actor John Cleese! They talk about John’s experiences working with Ronnie Corbett and Ronnie Barker, his love of Beyond The Fringe and performing to audiences of 16,000 at the O2 with Monty Python Live. They also discuss the use of taboo subjects to generate the biggest laughs, how a lack of distraction is imperative for creativity, and how he's currently writing a musical version of A Fish Called Wanda with John Du Prez.

Singer-songwriter and National Treasure Rick Astley joins Rob ahead of his new US tour with New Kids On The Block, Salt N Pepa and En Vogue. The pair discuss first meeting at CarFest, and Rick tells Rob all about how he started out as a tea boy after he signed with his first record label! Rick also explains the worldwide phenomenon Rickrolling, which he has learnt to use to his advantage.

Rob is back at The Mitre this week to chat with actress and singer Martine McCutcheon! They talk about the highs and lows of Martine's showbiz career, from being expelled from stage school to being signed by Polydor Records with her band Milan. Double BAFTA winning stand-up comedian Mo Gilligan joins Rob from LA to talk about being the ‘funny kid’ growing up, discovering Performing Arts & Drama at school, and then having his comedy videos go viral online. Mo also talks about his love of Eddie Murphy and how his fascination with American culture has driven him to want to ‘break America’ by bringing British comedy to the States.

Actor, writer and character comedian Al Murray joins Rob to talk about his new tour ‘Al Murray The Pub Landlord.’ Al tells Rob how the concept of The Pub Landlord came about, the extent to which the character is based on himself, and his experiences of working closely with Harry Hill.

Musician, singer, and songwriter Johnny Marr joins Rob to talk about falling in love with the guitar as a kid, forming bands with his friends at a young age and meeting (and falling in love with!) his wife at the tender age of 15. He also talks about his musical influences, his recent tour with Blondie, and the difference between creating his own albums to working with Hans Zimmer on blockbuster movies.
