The year is 1905. Norway leaves the union with Sweden as a result of King Oscar II refusing for the third time to sanction the law on a separate Norwegian consulate. In Stockholm, King Oscar II abdicates the Norwegian throne. This triggers jubilation in Norway. Now all that is needed is to get Prince Carl to accept the throne. For that, a strong and charismatic man is needed. King Oscar II's resignation leads to a celebration at the Theatercafe, where Prime Minister Michelsen toasts with champagne together with Fridtjof Nansen and Fritz Wedel Jarlsberg. Now it's time to get Prince Carl to make up his mind, and Nansen is once again tasked with making the trip to Copenhagen.
