The Orchestra club has given their regular concert, and next will be the national competition. They will aim to continue their string of victories, but now with just the first and second-years. However, during the morning practice on the first day, the number of violins was surprisingly small. Furthermore, Sakuma, the leader of percussion, provokes new concertmaster Hatori and the members of the string instruments with harsh words. Aono is confused, and Saeki and Ritsuko are angry.

１ｓｔから異動して２ｎｄヴァイオリンのパートリーダーになった滝本は、朝練を休み続けていた。パートをまとめる立場なのになぜ来ないのかと、ミーティングで佐久間たちに責められても、滝本はのらりくらりとかわし続け、理由を明かさなかった。ついには２ｎｄメンバーの不満が爆発、滝本に詰め寄る。その様子を目撃してしまう青野。滝本は、意味ありげなことを言い捨て立ち去った。そして、滝本を心配する裾野からの思わぬ提案。
