Howard's lawyer arrives with news that Howard died during a business trip in New York. He reveals Howard was actually wealthy and eccentric, having pretended to be homeless. Before dying, Howard mentioned Jack and Jennifer made him happy. Jack initially refuses to attend the funeral, but Vern convinces him to go for Jennifer's sake. At the cemetery service, Jack shows up, pleasing Jennifer. Afterward, Hawk flirtingly places a rose in Jennifer's hair. Roman returns to Salem from a trip with Abe. Isabella can't pick him up from the airport due to parent-teacher day at the park. Marlena arrives in Salem after four years away and encounters her children Sami and Eric at the park without them recognizing her. She watches longingly from a distance. That evening, Roman proposes to Isabella, and she accepts. Marlena witnesses their engagement from outside, devastated. Roman remains unaware of Marlena's return or the truth about Bo that Isabella has been meaning to tell him.
