Detectives Lona Mendt and Frank Elling are investigating a complex murder case that leads them into a web of dark secrets. At the center of the investigation is twelve-year-old Sarah (Greta Kasalo), a Bulgarian orphan. However, two weeks into their inquiry, Lona and Elling are shot and fall into a coma, while Sarah disappears without a trace.
