It’s just a typical day of Dynamite Fishing on a rural Wisconsin lake when something shocking happens: the yokel fisherman DOESN’T blow his hand off! But then he’s quickly eaten by a bog monster, so his afternoon is a wash. Awakened by the dynamite blast, the monster terrifies the community by cutting off their supply of cheese curds and occasionally drowning somebody. Fortunately the Sheriff has a plan: enlist the help of the local Bog Hag! What, your town doesn’t have a Bog Hag? Well, it was either that or deputize a drunken posse, and actually, he does that too. (It does not go well.) It’s the most terrifying thing to come out of a 70s bog since the rabbit that attacked Jimmy Carter, at least when the movie eventually gets around to showing it.
