In June 1914, a Serbian nationalist shoots the couple heir to the Austrian throne. The Bosnian Serbs strive for independence from the Austro-Hungarian Habsburg Empire. You are allied with Russia. July 1914 Austrian artillery bombs Belgrade. Emperor Franz Josef asks his German ally for assistance. In August 1914, the German Kaiser also announced general mobilization.
