Boy, the early 2000s were great. Classics like Cradle 2 The Grave and State Property 2 were in theaters. Jay Z gave us The Blueprint, while DMX taught us how to Party Up. In gaming, the good folks at Def Jam teamed up with EA to provide us back-to-back bangers in Def Jam Vendetta and Def Jam Fight for New York. Despite both games performing well critically and commercially, their time in the sun was short-lived. The Black Hokage, Goldenboy, and WWE Superstar Xavier Woods aka Austin Creed join forces to celebrate the brief, glorious moment when hip-hop and gaming came together in a series of all-time great fighting games.
Def Jam: Fight for NY is a hip hop-influenced action video game published by EA Games. It was released on September 21, 2004 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube. It is a sequel to Def Jam Vendetta and is followed by Def Jam: Icon.
