Ludovic Pessac, a young lawyer in his thirties, is murdered in his office. Deputy Prosecutor Elisabeth Richard and Gendarmerie Commander Paul Jansac are assigned to the case. A second murder is committed. Nicolas Monfort, a real estate agent, is found dead in a villa's swimming pool, his skull fractured. Shock ripples through Aigues-Mortes.
