Norse explorers sited the landmass of Greenland already early on in the 10th Century, though the first permanent colony was founded there by Erik the Red in 985, after which it continued to be inhabited by Scandinavians into the 15th Century when the settlement disappeared. In this video I put forward the theory that the Norse obsession and cultural prestige attached to the rearing of cattle played a role in their demise.
