November 16, 2011. Agnès Marin, 13 years old, was stabbed 17 times and burned in a wood by a classmate from the Cévenol College in Chambon-sur-Lignon. Her parents were convinced that their daughter would gain in maturity and regain a taste for studies in this establishment renowned for its open-mindedness and sense of humanity. The murderer's parents shared the same hope. At the age of 17, their son, Matthew, was awaiting trial for rape. A crime committed when he was only 15 years old. But far from making amends, the young man re-offended and this time he killed.
