Melemele Island Kahuna Hala's grandson Hau is training with his Fukuthrow when he runs into Satoshi, and is excited to learn that not only does Satoshi have a z-ring but also that Satoshi's Mokuroh defeated one of his grandfather's Pokémon. Satoshi asks for a battle against Hau, who is only too happy to oblige. When Satoshi drops his Grass-Z crystal and is distracted, Fukuthrow defeats Mokuroh. Hau promises a rematch, and Satoshi and Mokuroh return to the Dodekabashi nest, where Satoshi sees both it and Kerarappa using Seed Machine Gun and tries to teach Mokuroh to use that move. Mokuroh is unable to use it, but finds an Unchanging Stone and is able to use it to perform Seed Bomb instead. In the rematch, Mokuroh's new Seed Bomb move is effective and Satoshi's Z-Move Bloom Shine Extra wins the battle. Hau is upset at first, but determines to become stronger and win his grandfather's Grand Trial, and the two part as friendly rivals. Meanwhile, Eievui's attempt to play with a Namakobushi prove less than successful; its retaliation causes Eievui to meet Pikachu and its Alolan Pokémon friends, and they seem to be getting along, despite Eievui's rough-house style of playing.
