Odyssey

During a mission with her special ops Task Force 24 team in Mali, North Africa, Sgt Odelle Ballard stumbles upon encrypted files that prove a major American corporation called the SOC is secretly funding terrorists. She copies it onto a flash drive before the untrustworthy private military group OSELA show up. After an attack on her unit, she becomes the sole survivor and must make the gruelling journey back home. Meanwhile, former US attorney-turned-business investigator Pete Decker uncovers corruption in the private sector at his new job, and G8 protest organizer Harrison Walters suspects a government cover-up when a fellow activist hacks into Sgt Ballard's webmail account and finds her distress signal.

Rumours that Odelle survived the attacked are denied by the US Army. Still in possession of the flashdrive, Odelle escapes with Aslam by joining a pilgrimage to Timbuktu. The enormity of recent events begins to overwhelm Peter. Meanwhile, Bob has gone missing with an important piece of information and Harrison tries to track him down.
