A slightly different take on grinding your own tools for the shop. I was going to call this video "Making The Case for Insert Tooling" but that'll be part 2. :) I start from the very basics; if you're a ninja-level tool grinder, yes, this might hurt a bit.

Thought I'd share a couple of old boring head tricks. Specifically, using a boring head to cut tapers and spheres.

My oscilloscope and I pick up on what my TIG welder is laying down. The news doesn't look good.

Start of a chainsaw driven go kart; Part 1 - building (most of) the drivetrain / back end.

Sharpening drill bits by hand -- by which I mean a bench grinder. This also got way longer than I expected.

No longer a chainsaw go kart but what's a fella to do? Part 2 is a late-game engine-change & building the front end, including most of the steering geometry at the front axles. ----- Music: "Someone Your Own Size" - RW Smith.

Some unexpected CNC downtime, took the "opportunity" for a tune-up, added mist coolant and a DIY touch probe.

This video includes: a LOT of talking, CAD (Master Modeling), answered one or two questions that came out of the last video, and finally a quick look at the CAM. 9:30 will take you straight to the CAD talk. Recently burnt out the transformer on my CNC router. Decided to rebuild the drive/stepper power supply. What you're about to see ... is a true story.
