May 1919: Germany has lost the war, overthrown its emperor and the allies are ready to march on the Rhine. The 'shameful paragraphs' of the peace treaty, which the German Reich et al. To impose all war guilt, numerous resignations and unprecedented reparations payments, he divided the political and military fields. The controversial question: accept the offer or go down fighting? When the contract was finally signed on June 28, 1919 in the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles, the month-long tug of war ended. Was the signing of the peace treaty a mistake? In hindsight, at least one thing is clear: Versailles' 'violent peace' and its instrumentalization already had the seeds of an even crueler World War II.
