The Daytripper

Chet travels to the edge of Texas to discover the Wild West history of this frontier town. He eats authentic Mexican food, learns why El Paso is known as the "Boot Capital of the World," and takes a hike and tram ride high into the Franklin Mountains.

Chet travels to the birthplace and hometown of Lyndon B. Johnson, the 36th President of the United States of America. He visits President Johnson's boyhood home and the legendary "Texas White House," a National Historical Park. Chet also hikes to Pedernales Falls, sees some hill country art, and visit a local brew pub.

Chet travels to a town thriving on the flowing waters of the San Marcos River. He explores the history of Aquarena Springs, tubes with the college students from Texas State University, and takes a stab at whitewater rafting.

Chet travels to the "Bayou City" to hop amongst its neighborhoods. He starts with a Asian market and Dim Sum in Houston's Chinatown, follows it up with dinosaurs and parks in the Museum District, and finishes up in Houston's Montrose area, full of art, culture, and delicious food.

Chet recaps some of his spookiest trips to some of Texas's most-haunted destinations, including The Grove in Jefferson, Texas, Presidio La Bahia in Goliad, Texas, and San Antonio's Haunted Ghost Tracks.

Chet heads to Arlington to explore the city's legacy of big thrills, dating all the way back to the hidden speakeasy Top O'Hill Terrace. For sports excitement Chet takes a tour of Dallas Cowboy's stadium, visits the International Bowling Hall of Fame, takes a private bowling lesson from a Team USA coach, mountain bikes River Legacy Park, and then heads to a Texas Rangers' game.

Chet heads to Abilene to explore the history of the wild Texas frontier. He visits the world-class museum "Frontier, TX," Fort Phantom Hill, and the Buffalo Gap Historic Village. Chet eats along the way at Vleta's candy, making peanut brittle in Abilene for 100 years, Abi-Haus for a local, scratch made lunch, then to Perini Ranch Steakhouse for a prime rib dinner.

Chet heads to Lufkin to explore the Texas Piney Woods and one of Texas's four National Forests. He paddles the Neches River, hikes beneath the towering pines, and visits the Texas Forestry Museum to learn the history of the people who lived here.

Chet heads to Mason: the “Gem of the Hill Country.” As the only place in Texas to find topaz, the state gem, Chet learns about it from some local experts, sees the largest topaz in North America, and then goes hunting for his own treasure. He explores the interesting history of town, including the namesake Fort Mason, the HooDoo Wars, and more.

Chet heads to Orange to explore the swamps and waterways of this town on the Louisiana border. Chet visits the amazing Stark House and Stark Museum, then explores nature at Shangri-La Botanical Garden and with an airboat ride through the bayou looking for alligators. To eat, Chet visits the Old Orange Cafe, a modern cafe in an old dairy building and then at Robert's Steakhouse.
