Following the day-to-day operations of a mobile crane company as it moves everything from precious works of art to enormous wind turbines. The first episode looks at the staff and machines challenged with carrying out the biggest lifts of all, including the dismantling of the aquatics centre at the former Olympic Park in Stratford, east London. Life on the road often means sleeping and eating in vans, conditions that cause crane driver Tristam to complain to management - while new recruit Wayne struggles to deal with life 200 miles away from his family.

The lifting of a hugely expensive sculpture into a private home in Somerset proves to be a logistical nightmare for the mobile crane company, while the removal of an old railway bridge in east London creates tension after falling 12 hours behind schedule. Commercial director Gareth Jones sees profits hit hard when high winds lead to jobs being cancelled across the country.

The installation of a wind turbine in Cornwall is brought to a halt by high winds, drivers in London are given cycle awareness training and a team gets to grips with a very delicate lift on HMS Victory in Portsmouth. Driver Andy Surridge decides to cut his long hours so he can see his wife more, while Paul Gilpin has one last job to do before he retires.
