It’s an exciting day at the Chateau de Lalande as our guests start to arrive for our #escapetothechateaudiy party weekend!

The day of the ball has finally arrived! My fellow 'Escape to the Chateau DIY participants arrive at Lalande, we prepare the chateau for the party, I finish sewing my historic 17th century costume, and there’s a lot of faffing around with hair!

It’s a day of hellos and goodbyes at the Chateau de Lalande. All of our 'Escape to the Chateau DIY' guests leave (boo!), and my best friend, Michael arrives (yay!). And Percy rocks the best outfit you’ve ever seen.

Another day at the Chateau de Lalande. Gerald returns to England, I go food shopping, and Mummy gets agitated about jam .

It’s CHRISTMAS!!!! Lalande is in a flurry of preparation and celebration - we bring in lots of trees from the forest, Stephanie makes Christmas stockings, and everyone parties for days!

It’s a New Year and a New Vlog!!! Stephanie and Michael visit the Chateau de Jalesnes and back at Lalande the New Year Celebrations break out! Happy New Year from La La Land to everyone

The New Year sees Stephanie and the inhabitants of the Chateau de Lalande celebrating Epiphany with a traditional ‘galette des rois’, bringing in wood to keep the chateau toasty, and, most surprisingly, going to a pool party!

Scotman and Stephanie cruise up the Nile in a wooden sailboat, visiting temples, tombs, villages and farms along the way, and dancing up a storm

Today at the chateau saw Stephanie rescuing a peacock, being outwitted by sheep and messing about in the moat

This episode sees Stephanie preparing the chateau for a photo shoot of Yves Delorme bedlinen, which means fiddling with the electrics, finishing a fabric wall and fitting a new headboard. Oh, and processing cherries!

Gerry unveils his alter ego, 'Scotman' to Stephanie, the chateau's musical workshop begins, and France wins the World Cup!

It was a beautiful week - I visited Paris with my mother, and we had a delicious meal at 'Le Dome', which was much loved by Hemingway and all of early 20th century Parisian artistic society. Whilst exploring Le Marais, I got sucked into the seductive world of evocative scents at Cire Trudon, the oldest candle manufacturers in France, who were the official suppliers of candles to the court of Versailles. I brought back a candle to scent the chateau in time for Lalande's open day for the French 'Journee du Patrimoine'. Any excuse! Something magical happened at the chateau this week. We had mass in the chapel! We bought Lalande from the family of the Marquis of Nadaillac, who had been living here for 200 years. They were a deeply religious family, who built the Chapel of Saint Joseph in the garden. Two of the eleven children of the last marquis became priests. One of them, now in his 80s, came back to visit us and gave mass in the chapel. I felt very moved to attend mass given by someone who'd spent his childhood here and whose family built our chapel. Along with our usual fun of cooking and hosting - and seeing the return of Mummy, Percy and Scotman, it was a very special week! This week I went on an EPIC road trip from Lisbon to Lalande. It's been a classic chateau week - decorating, partying, cooking and dealing with uninvited animal guests. It was a week of arrivals and departures at the chateau. Ian returned in time to save dinner for our b&b guests, new volunteer Yu Jou arrived from Taiwan, and our naughty hedgehog made a most unexpected return. The Elusive Nic and I went on an awfully big adventure to Scotland. We immersed myself in the world of Scottish Castles, visiting Doune Castle - the location of Outlander and Game of Thrones, and staying at the stunning Inverlochy Castle in Fort William, on our way to our friends' country house near Dundee. Many of you have asked about Nic, as he's the friend that I bought the Chateau de Lalande with 14 years ago, yet he's never seen on Escape to the Chateau DIY! Some weeks are EPIC and this was one of them! The chateau was filled with wonderful people as the lovely chef Mike Robinson hosted his birthday weekend at Lalande. His guests included the 2 Michelin star chef Brett Graham from London's The Ledbury restaurant, and the food was UNBELIEVABLE. Lalande's wood fired bread oven was working overtime, churning out delicious bread, vegetables and venison. This week at the chateau was so sweet that we were, in the words of Evelyn Waugh, 'drowning in honey'. After a seven month wait, we eventually received the marble for our new apartments! And we received our annual payment - in honey - from the bee keeper who keeps his hives on our land, and created Lalande's first Honey Tasting Platter Then, just as we felt that life couldn't get any sweeter, we received an invitation to a costume party at the Chateau de Bourneau, to celebrate the birthday of its lovely chatelaine, Erin. That trip was like stepping into a fairytale - her chateau is breathtakingly beautiful. But it wasn't just honey tasting and partying, Michael and I also knuckled down to some much needed admin, and we have created a new reservation system for Lalande! This week at the chateau was a whirlwind of art, nature, sewing, cookery and bargain hunting. A stunning print arrived from the talented Emilia Snovit Kikic, which perfectly reflected Lalande life. I found an incredible new piece of furniture in the local charity shop, we celebrated Chinese New Year, and Michael created yet more delicacies in the ancient wood oven. This week I escaped from the chateau to the city! Join me on an adventure in New York, where I enjoyed everything the city had to offer, from jaw-droppingly beautiful interior design at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to geeky video games, with lots of delicious food, cocktails...and squirrels in between Then I headed to Vermont to enjoy spectacular winter scenery, log fires, skiing and picnics in the snow. This was an exciting week at the chateau. Ian the Volunteer came back, laden with goodies from Spain, and we had a dinner party to celebrate his return. Whilst dramatic events were engulfing Europe and changing the way of life there beyond recognition, Scotman and I were blissfully floating up the Mekong in Vietnam and Cambodia. Happily cut off from the world, we were enjoying stunning scenery, exquisite food, wonderful people, mysterious waterways and unspoilt nature. Reality only hit when we disembarked from the boat in Cambodia, and learnt that we'd been on the last boat up the Mekong - all future cruises had been cancelled. Our epic race against time to make it home to the chateau before the borders closed, began! The holiday was so epic that I've had to spilt it into two vlogs. Escape from your isolation for a while, and join us for the Cambodian part of our journey up the Mekong! Whilst dramatic events were engulfing Europe, Scotman and I were blissfully floating up the Mekong. Reality only hit when we disembarked from the boat in Cambodia, and learnt that we'd been on the last boat up the Mekong - all future cruises had been cancelled. This week I show you the royal palace at Phnom Penh, the ancient ruins of Wat Nokor Bachey, and an island where we learn about silk production, all the way from the mating of the moth to the final fabric! Today was an eventful day at the chateau! My mother battled with her beloved mower, as it came up with a constant stream of excuses as to why it couldn't work. Once again, she rocked an extraordinary outfit that has to be seen to be be believed - but let's just say that it involved the use of a trunk strap as a ribbon. It's Easter at the chateau!!! It was a 'Work Hard, Play Hard' day at the chateau, as I launched into DIY mode and finally finished upholstering the antique headboards for the Chambre des Oiseaux, using a fragment of the original peacock print fabric from that bedroom. Selmar helped me to plan big changes to make the room truly spectacular, whilst, as usual, the Elusive Nic spent his time worrying sheep. All of the chateau inhabitants united to tackle two mighty projects this week - another attempt at moving the world's most stubborn sheep, and sending 300 hand written cards to my patrons. It's finally happened - Selmar has given us all our first Tango lesson! Tango Mania swept the chateau, with the Elusive Nic getting particularly caught up in it. We prepared by baking lemon drizzle cake to give us strength for dancing! It was Selmar's Birthday at Lalande! And because no-one here had the secret to his mother's perfect apple cake, he asked her for the recipe and made it himself - watch and the secret to appley yumminess will be revealed! It's been a typical, sunny chateau day here at Lalande. Work progressed well in the vegetable garden. Selmar has made a beautiful job of boxing in the new beds, and we use an ancient Roman technique to work out if our lines are straight! Mummy rocks a new dress, but their separation starts to get to poor Percy. And it's parcel opening day! It's finally happened - after two months of lockdown I left the chateau on an awfully big adventure and went to collect Michael Petherick at the Chateau de la Basmaignee. It's so amazing to be reunited! We have lots to celebrate, as we haven't seen each other for months and in that time he's launched his incredibly successful YouTube channel @Doing It Ourselves Before jumping into the car to get Michael, I have updates from Dan the Gardener and Ian the Builder re progress in the chateau and gardens, and Antoine and I open lots of lovely, thoughtful parcels! From now on, parcel opening will always be in the Tuesday vlogs :)

Today's vlog is about double chateau life! I wake up in the beautiful Chateau de la Basmaignee, where I try flying a drone for the first time, am introduced to some beautiful porcelain, and visit Michael's future cottage. The Pethericks also give me cuttings of their spectacular roses for Mummy. Then Michael and I race home to Lalande in time for a delicious aperitif prepared by Marie, which we all enjoy in the sunshine on the terrace...

Lalande is filled with Glyndebourne dreaming, as we plan to show 'The Marriage of Figaro' on the terrace, with the audience enjoying picnics on the lawn below. Meanwhile, Michael helps around the chateau, putting up paintings and making a bbq, and Scotman gives us an update!

What a week! Selmar makes magnificent progress in the walled vegetable garden, Michael and I brave the drizzle to upload his vlog, Mummy plants up a storm - but most excitingly of all, we find that our peahen is sitting on EGGS! And Selmar removes the fitted wardrobe in the Chambre des Oiseaux and finds...treasure!

The Rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain, but the rain in France falls mainly on the chateau. But it doesn't stop any of the Lalanders! There's big progress in the walled garden, as the new arches arrive for the new vegetable beds. Mummy and Mary Poppins plant a plethora of new, curious herbs and vegetables. Dan the Gardener remains stoic in the face of a downpour and Michael is positively drawn to the storm! And, because it's Tuesday, it's present opening day! Which will be the last one with Antoine for a few weeks, as Nic, Marie and Antoine have to return to Brussels...

There is progress on all fronts at the Chateau de Lalande! Selmar starts a new project, Mummy continues to pour love into the garden, I cook and plan a 'Mini Glyndebourne' festival on the lawn, and Michael and I finally return to our favourite charity shop!

What a week at the chateau! Selmar starts repairing an antique French bed, Dan the Gardener tackles a large pile of earth, Mummy gardens up a storm, Natalia returns to the chateau and Michael transforms my hair before being whisked away back to the Chateau de la Basmaignee!

It's WORK WORK WORK at the Chateau de Lalande, as we start making progress on many fronts! Selmar and I form a Joint Task Force to start work on Project:Loo - he's going to be in charge of plasterboard, ceiling, skirting and coving, whilst I focus on wallpaper and curtains. Hopefully we'll form a Toilet DreamTeam. Meanwhile, Natalia gets on top of chateau management, and our new volunteer, Tomas, tackles the laundry room with a vengeance. Mummy is back in the garden, and there's even work on the garden arches - and, less excitingly, on the chateau drains! It's chateau life at its most varied...

It's been an action packed week at the Chateau de Lalande, filled with decorating, shopping and dancing. We went to the local market and charity shop, and organised lots of framing for paintings and prints. Tomaz and Selmar continued their stellar renovation of the laundry room, whilst Mummy and I had a meeting at the local marie to start the process of reinstating the lake. But Sif the Peahen was the busiest and most industrious of us all. She delighted everyone by hatching five perfect peachicks! Our hearts are melted! After all that excitement there was only one thing left to do - DANCE!

Scotman Returns!!! Hurrah! Gerald finally returns to the chateau after lockdown in the UK, and the chateau is filled with celebrations. I'm not sure whether he's more delighted to see us or the baby peachicks! Selmar and I go on an Awfully Big Adventure, and Tomaz surprises us all with his ingenious ideas around the house. Pool party, anyone?

The Chateau de Lalande starts to fill up once more with its regular characters as lockdown eases throughout Europe. Michael and Ruth arrive from Amsterdam, Nic and Marie return from Brussels, and my wonderful artist friend Ollie visits from the UK. I'd missed everyone so much! And the chateau is a hive of industry, as Tomaz and Selmar continue their incredible work in the laundry room, whilst Mummy and Dan make big changes in the vegetable garden...

The chateau is in a flurry of decorating and cooking! Tomaz tackles the creation of a new Spa Room at Lalande, much to Scotman's delight. And one of my oldest friend, the artist Oliver Strong, joins me to prepare an epic feast for everyone - with Scotman in charge of the trusty ancient bread oven!

It's a challenging day at the chateau, as a sad event occurs at Lalande, forcing us to focus on the good and look towards the future. Luckily, exciting projects abound - work starts on the chapel windows, Oliver starts a painting of Mummy in the garden, and the costume cupboard is relocated. Michael Potts creates a magnificent feast through the power of delegation, and Mummy, Scotman and Dan the Gardener try to discover the root of the Mystery of the Missing Water in the vegetable garden...

Celebrations abound at the Chateau de Lalande as it's both Bastille Day in France, and we have the long-awaited Return of Marie!!! It's so wonderful to have her back. She ran straight into the old tables to start organising her floristry studio, and as the first delivery of flowers arrives tomorrow, we can expect to see magnificent floral creations gracing the chateau's rooms soon! Marie's arrival helped to soften the blow of Scotman's departure, but he's hoping to return next month. Meanwhile Selmar finished the new garden beds and Tomaz showed his hairdressing skills on willing guineapig, Oliver...

Celebration is in the air at the chateau, as it's Mummy's birthday!! We all gather together to celebrate with traditional French cake and a delicious spread. Marie is back in the house, filling the floristry studio with beautiful flowers, and Oliver makes a stunning portrait of Mummy as her birthday present.

The day we've all been waiting for at the chateau has finally arrived - MUMMY'S NEW MOWER IS HERE!!! It's absolutely huge and very fast and -as you'll see - it was quite a terrifying experience to witness her tackling it. But, eventually, all things bend to her will, and the mower has proved no exception...

The chateau is filled with beautiful music during a workshop for talented young pianists and opera singers. It's all hands on deck in the kitchen, and Nati make delicious cakes whilst Marie divides her time between the kitchen and the floristry studio - stunning bouquets are appearing in the house! Mummy and Selmar are working full steam in the garden, and we're all overjoyed by the the return of Scotman!!! The week ends with a concert featuring a surprise guest appearance ;)

The chateau is a hive of industry as Gerry and Tomaz join me in tackling the ceiling and doors of the entrance hall. Nati is busy baking, Dan and Selmar make the plans for Chickenopolis, and Marie starts work on the floristry studio. Meanwhile, for once, Mummy manages to take it easy, and revels in a new dress!

It's Mummy and Percy's first wedding anniversary, and they're separated by the global lockdown, as Percy is in South Africa, which has completely closed its borders. We cheer Mummy up at the chateau, with a day of gifts and celebrations, as well as some hard work on the chateau...

It's all go on the bedroom front at the chateau, as all of the special mattresses that I ordered arrived for the vintage beds that Selmar repaired. Meanwhile, Selmar continues his beautiful restoration work of the golden chairs, Mummy and Gerry address envelopes for our patrons, Marie settles into her floristry studio, and Dan plants a fig tree to grace our future garden pergola...

The chateau is a hive of activity, with Mummy and Dan sheep catching and chicken fencing, Selmar repairing chairs, Ian bringing pews for the chapel, and Tomaz, Emily and Marie cooking up a storm! As if that weren't enough activity, Nic, Marie and Antoine return for the summer, and we enjoy a glamorous night at the opera!!!

I can't believe it's already the 150th episode of the Chateau Diaries! And it's spent following Mummy in her attempts to get the water flowing into the vegetable garden once more. The search for the source of the Nile couldn't have been as complex or vital. Her search for water in rural France is very Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources! Aside from the water shenanigans, life is as varied as ever at the chateau, as the sheep finally get shorn, Emily and Marie find treasure at the local brocante, Thomaz cleans the fountain and Diesel sports a new French style.

I had the most idyllic holiday in Lake Garda with Ollie and his lovely family. It was a working holiday, as we were there to start filming for a new YouTube channel that we're planning to launch this autumn, all about European travel, art, food and culture! It was a joy to be travelling in Europe again after lockdown, and wonderful to be back in Italy, my favourite country! In this video I share my travels with you, and show you a sneak preview of the stunning places that we filmed for the new vlog!

I'm reunited with all of the inhabitants of the Chateau de Lalande on my return from Lake Garda, and find that lots of exciting things happened in my absence - the chickens arrived and the fountain is ON! Then I celebrate my birthday with everyone, and Tomaz arranges a party in the Grand Salon for us all...
