It’s happening. Apple is making a car. The question is: what kind of car? And in what market would it actually make sense? Today, Snazzy Labs talks about auto manufacturing, software, autonomy, and more. It’s not as simple as it seems to just “make a car.”

Apple is making a car. Or partnering with another automaker that can make a car for them. Or maybe they’re just selling software? Autonomous software or just infotainment? Oh, boy, it gets complicated. Today, we talk about Project Titan and the latest leaks that Hyundai and Apple are working together to make an Apple Car or iCar. What will this vehicle entail? When will it come to market? And what can Apple bring that traditional automakers really neat? Let’s chat.

Asking someone what the first "smartphone" was will result in different answers. It's well-recognized that the 2007 iPhone inspired the modern-era of smartphones we enjoy today; however, smartphones go back much further than that. Most generally recognize IBM's Simon from the early 1990s as the first crack at what we'd consider a modern smartphone. The Simon could send email, pages, and faxes while also being able to make calls over a cellular (as well as landline lol) network! There have been lots of "firsts" in the smartphone industry and we take a look at just how far we've come and what may be in store for the future.

The original Macintosh released in 1984 changed the world. It was the first computer to bring a GUI, mouse, and windowing system to the mass market. Sure, machines from Xerox and others existed before—in classic Apple fashion, nothing they created was novel. But it was polished, it was targeted at "normal people" rather than tech enthusiasts that had previously dominated the home computer sales market and it was designed "right." It wasn't resorted to the basement dweller's lair, rather at the centerpiece of the home. As one might expect, accessories for the device became very numerous and in 1984, the MacTable was released. Partial drawing table, partial computer desk, partial... well, who knows what the heck it was for? Designed by famous industrial designer Jacob Jensen of Bang & Olufsen fame, it isn't just your average desk. Let's take a look at it in 2021. #Macintosh #RetroTech #IndustrialDesign

Apple announced Apple Silicon and a transition to ARM from x86 earlier this year after years of rumors and speculation. The M1 SoC released in the M1 Mac mini, M1 MacBook Pro, and M1 MacBook Air is impressive. The chip is insanely efficient and has rather excellent performance—objectively—not just for a low-TDP chip. But how does it compare to something like a Ryzen 4750G APU. Or what about a top-of-the-line laptop CPU like the 5900HX? We benchmark both machines and demonstrate how Apple Silicon's power efficiency just can't be matched and how that might affect the high-performance of an upcoming M2 or M1X later this year.

Apple's move to Apple Silicon is still in the early stages with the recently released M1, but rumors of an M1X, M1Z, and M2 are already on the horizon. In this video, we'll look at Apple's lineup as it exists today: from the MacBook to iMac lines, AirPods products, Apple Watch, and more. Then we'll talk about the future products that may come: a 14" MacBook Pro, budget AirPods Max, etc.

Snazzy Labs gives you a tour of his smart house built on three distinct principles: (1) all smart devices must be controllable non-smartly—either via a remote or on-device button, (2) all devices must integrate into a singular, centralized app with a singular voice assistant, and, (3) automation must never get in the way. This is a smart home that’s not stupid.

Apple kicked off 2021 a bit late with an April 2021 (4/20) event held online. The long fabled AirTag (yeah, it isn’t plural) have been released and the new Find My update in iOS 14.5 is part of Apple’s grand plan to become the de-facto device tracking network. We got a new iPhone 12 in a cute purple color (aww), and we finally got a new Apple TV 4K 6th generation with a redesigned Siri Remote (GOODNESS, GRACIOUS IT WAS ABOUT TIME, EH!?). A long rumored iMac design finally came to fruition with an M1 chip and external power supply (yeah, the design is weird and we talk about that), and then we have the most powerful iPad Pro ever made that exceeds the display performance of any device Apple has ever made. And that’s where things get sus. Apple isn’t telling us something very important about the future of iPad and I theorize what this might be. This isn’t a summary video—it’s an analysis. So kick back and enjoy the ride.

Apple's M1 chip released last year to much fanfare, but it mostly saw deployment on small, efficient form factors such as the MacBook line and more recently, iPad Pro. But is an M1 in an iMac a bad thing? Does it need a more powerful chip? We submit that it doesn't as we're replacing our $10,000 Mac Pro with an M1 iMac. The M1X and M2 are sure to release soon but in this video we don't know if they're strictly necessary for our—or most—workloads. We know it sounds nuts so let us explain...

It's pretty rare that Apple releases a product to market nowadays that doesn't perform well. Even niche products sell in the tens of millions; however, the HomePod released in 2017 is estimated to have sold around just 5 million units during its product life cycle. The product is discontinued—dead—but still continues to get new updates with iOS 15. Why? Is Apple doing something behind the curtain that we just can't see? Today, we take a look at Apple's other failed hi-fi speaker—one that launched over 15 years ago at the exact same $349 price point. Why do they keep screwing these speaker systems up? What might they be planning for the future? Have they given up and settled on HomePod mini? I don't think so...

Apple has a lot ahead in terms of scheduled product releases for the end of 2021. When they're coming out, nobody much knows (other than the September iPhone event scheduled for the 14th). What are the new devices going to be, what will be their price points, what features will they offer? A new square flat-edged Series 7 Apple Watch? An iPhone 13 mini with new wide camera and 120Hz ProMotion display with an LTPO 1Hz always-on (AOD) function? New MacBook Pros with an M1X 10-core CPU and 32-core GPU? We break down all the rumors and what they'll mean for you!

The rumor mill was 100% off this time. Basically nothing rumored ended up coming to fruition. The squared-edge Apple Watch Series 7 was a sham, the astrophotography, satellite, and always-on displays rumored for the iPhone 13 series were nowhere to be seen, and the iPad mini... okay, well the iPad mini rumors were pretty spot on. But the event was a little weird. Apple wan't 100% straight up about the A15 SoC, the SoC present in the Apple Watch Series 7 (spoiler alert: it's the same as the Series 6), and some of their marketing copy is downright shady. In this video, I break down everything you need to know about the Apple September 2021 iPhone event.
