The Mavericks Invitational is considered the world's wildest big wave surf contest. The wave itself, located in Half Moon Bay, California, is steeped in a complex history. Running the gamut from triumphs to tragedy, names like Jeff Clark, Flea, Peter Mel, Jay Moriarty, Sion Milosky and Mark Foo have become synonymous with Mavericks for good or ill. The 24 invitees will be given 24 hours notice before the contest runs, mobilizing competitors and thrusting Mavs onto center stage of the big wave world — just where it loves to be.

The many worlds of mountain biking will collide in one of the largest and most anticipated freeride competitions of the year. Fusing elements of slopestyle, dirt jump and classic downhill biking, Red Bull Joyride will anchor the final weekend of the Crankworx Whistler festival with one gravity-fed, season-defining freeride competition on August 16 in Whistler, BC. Designed by riders for riders, the 2014 Red Bull Joyride will be the biggest in the history of the event as athletes look to push the sport and themselves to new heights.

Cape Fear. The name says it all. And for the uninitiated, it's a deadly wave break in Sydney, Australia that is even more daunting than it sounds. In the very bay where Captain Cook landed and settled in Australia more than two hundred years ago, Cape Fear has been the site of many a wreck - both man and craft - over the years. An angry Pacific Ocean stirs and jerks like a mad witch's melting pot, pushing into the bay before pitching furiously on a shallow ledge so sharp is has the Gillette scientists baffled. Within a matter of seconds a 10-foot slab is formed and races towards a cliff-face just metres ahead before imploding on itself and anyone who dares attempt ride it. "Pound for pound, Cape Fear is the heaviest and most dangerous wave in the world," says big wave surfer and one of the brains behind the concept, Mark Mathews. "There's no wave in the world from six to ten feet that is heavier than it. Deep water swells pitch on a super shallow ledge that's covered with razorblade barnacles and then it breaks only 10-15 metres from the cliff face. So if you fall off and don't hit the bottom, chances are you're going to get washed in to that cliff face. There are plenty of dangers and few people willing to navigate them." But the globe was sought over and those few brave, perhaps fearless souls have been found, Red Bull Cape Fear compiling a list of the world's best big wave surfers to contest the one-day epic. Twelve surfers, including big wave veterans Jamie O'Brien, Bruce Irons, Dean Morrison, Koby Abberton, Laurie Towner and more will be tasked with the ultimate challenge, a one-on-one Red Bull Cape Fear battle to the death - possibly quite literally.

Thought by many to be one of the toughest Hard Enduro events out there, Red Bull Romaniacs is back for 2014 and all the top Hard Enduro stars will be in action. The event promises to be just as challenging, exhausting, enthralling and exhilarating as ever.

Conceived by pro rider Anthony Napolitan with a course brought to life by master builder Adam Aloise, Red Bull Dreamline showcases the best of what BMX dirt competition can be. For 2014, Red Bull Dreamline will take place on Oskar Blues REEB Ranch near Asheville, North Carolina. The most talented and progressive riders in the world will once again push their limits on jumps designed and built to showcase them at their best.

Red Bull District Ride is back following a hiatus of two years. Like in previous years, Nuremberg's old town will play host to the world's top freeride bike athletes for an event that has been given Diamond Series status on the FMB World Tour. Freeride-legend, Red Bull rider and previous District Ride winner Aaron Chase will design the course as he did when District Ride was last held in 2011.

Red Bull Straight Rhythm is an innovative evolution of Supercross where a track is "unwound" -- no turns, just a half-mile-long straight rhythm section. The innovative format will pit a field of 32 riders in a head-to-head, bracket format. The 16-rider Open Class is set with James Stewart, Ryan Dungey, Dean Wilson, Brett Metcalfe, Josh Grant, Justin Brayton, Malcolm Stewart, Shane McElrath, Kyle Partridge, Kyle Chisholm, Ryan Morais, Jake Canada, Josh Hill, Josh Hansen, Travis Pastrana, and Grant Langston. The 250 Class field will have Marvin Musquin, Jessy Nelson, Darryn Durham, Zach Freeburg, Justin Hill, Nico Izzi, Mike Leib, Ryan Surratt, Jarryd McNeil, Jordon Smith, Chris Blose, Keith Tucker, Cody Gilmore, Tevin Tapia, Austin Politelli, and Justin Bogle.

The great equalizer of all mountain bike events, Red Bull Rampage draws slopestyle riders, downhill racers and natural-terrain freeriders together in one big-mountain test of all-around bike skill on near-vertical sandstone ridges near Virgin, Utah.
